Value - To consider with respect to worth, excellence, usefulness, or importance. What do you value? How do you value? Why do you value? Within human life there are three main areas of value that come from necessity. Food, shelter and clothing. Food, including drink such as water, is of greatest importance due to the fact that no one can live without it. Our bodies reflect the nutrients digested and when provided appropriately we are able flourish. Thus ingesting the wrong foods, such as processed unnatural items cause health implications. Unconscious decisions of what we eat may certainly harm us in the long run. Hence, the saying, “You are what you eat.” I was once told all food not created from God is unhealthy. (Natural foods) Think about it, this makes sense! Either way food is essential to life, thus this should be a top priority and respected with great value. So please appreciate your food, bless your food, share your food, for the food you consume will be first to bless you back. Second is shelter, which is a means to protect our physical bodies from the natural elements, such as rain, snow, hail, etc. From the very beginning, Mankind has used caves, built huts, up to modern-day skyscrapers as tall as 163 floors, such as The “Burj Khalifa ” in Dubai completed in 2009. Still no matter the size of the structure, humans need to protect their bodies and most importantly our skin, which leads to another very important necessity, clothes. Clothes can be made from animal hide, cotton, to many other types of fabric. Clothes keep the human body warm, some suits are waterproof, and we even have space suits to explore outer space. Clothing includes shoes that protect our feet as well, which is very important since humans walk upright. No matter the stitching, the fabric or quality, we wear clothes to protect our skin, but in this day in age style has become the greater influence. Unfortunately quality may be diluted and people will still pay more for the style or dependent on Brand names. Focusing back to value, one may question if value has a price? What type of price range? Or do we place a price on what we value? Do we value material? Why? When we purchase clothes for instance, the fact that it is covering our bodies identifies the value. Of course if we’re facing colder temperatures the warmer the clothes, increases the value. However, living in a commercial and materialized society, style now seems to contribute to value. But is this point of value fictitious? Let’s take a closer look. Say you need to buy a sweater to keep you warm for a winter in New York. I'll give you to options for case and point. You can buy a sweater at a local thrift shop for $10 or buy a high-end overpriced sweater for $200 that looks really nice. The sweater from the thrift shop may be used and you should probably wash it once before you wear it, but if it’s warm and you purchased it for $10, I think there will be some significant value. On the other hand, let’s say you purchase the high-end sweater for $200 because it’s very fashionable, but it’s not as warm as the $10 Thrift shop sweater. On a really cold day in New York, which one holds more value? And then at a nice party, which one holds more value? There may be some value to the $200 sweater at the party if you get a few compliments and make yourself noticed, but how true is this value when you go back outside and face freezing temperatures? So should you dress to impress other people or dress out of necessity? Good question, but each of us believes a different truth. I have style enough to get compliments and I shop clearance! Just saying... Now I’d like to discuss the value of gifts. Have you been given gifts? What do you do with your gifts? Do you value your gifts? Through my life I’ve realized that one of my strongest gifts is that of communication. I can honestly say, I love helping and communicating with people. Over time I’ve learned the best way to do this is by not judging people, actively listening and addressing each situation without bias. By taking the time to understand people, I know I can be a great help. Even when I meet a disgruntled person, it doesn’t matter the way I meet that person, but I value how they feel when they leave me. This is why I enjoy writing so much. I wish to communicate with you, the reader and hopefully give you something to relate to, value or learn. As I get to know myself more, I realize the importance of my gift and thus wish to share it with the world everyday. I'm also a very passionate person and produce songs as well, but that's another story. Besides me, everyone has gifts, so make sure you find yours and realize the impact your gift has. Join the mission of love and use it to empower the world. That is how you will find the true value of your gift. Which leads us to the gift of Giving. Do you give? Do you find value in giving? Do others value your giving? Let's dive in to the topic of giving. Don’t we all want to give by nature? If you meet a small child and you need something they have, they have the urge to give it to you without question. But as we get older we seem to question the value of giving more and more. But what greater value can you find in life more than giving, especially to a person in need. There is great joy in solving dilemmas and when someone is in dire need, it feels that much better to help or save that person. Karma is real and works beautifully in this world. When you give, you are blessed back every time. Not just with the joy of helping, but you will attract good things to happen to you just by your actions. Sharing harmonious energy will only repay you. This is the Law of Attraction. Now just because you saved a person or helped a person out of a bind does not mean that moment will last forever. Even if the person forgets what you did for them, it doesn’t matter. You have the chance to do it again! All that matters is what you did when you did it and if the energy was well spent? That is the gift in itself. Giving is the prize. Don’t give and expect something in return or the value will truly diminish. And does value diminish??? Here's another question, does holding on to things increase value or increase fear? And does fear decrease freedom? When you purchase a material object it has a certain value, a certain worth to you. It can mean a lot or a little to you, but if you loose this item or it breaks, feeling pain is a choice. Is this value real? And is this pain self-inflicted? What do you value in your heart? As I stated before, the essentials are the biggest value in life. When you are starving and food is supplied to you, you find great value. If it’s hailing outside and shelter is provided to you, great value is found. If you are freezing in the middle of winter and warm clothes are supplied to you, great value is appreciated. So why should we spend so much time on fictitious value of new things we don’t have when we already have all that we need? And shouldn’t the true value be in making sure all people have what they need? If you are wealthy now and don't appreciate the little things in life, but lose it all tomorrow and have no where to turn to, I guarantee your sense of value will be immensely changed. Money is a tool in a barter system and somewhere along the way the view of money became more important than necessity. At least maybe for some? Although money creates power to purchase, which can be applies towards necessities and other items as well, just remember; whether or not you have money, money doesn’t care about you. If your essentials are met, you're blessed! Find value in your gifts and place your worth on this earth. Peace and Blessings to all. Written by Ariel Flashman Dedicated to Humanity
