Time and time again I hear, "if you do something you love, you'll never work a day in your life."
Is this true? And how hard is this to accomplish? Bottom line; you work to support yourself? We need our essentials to be met:
I think that's really it, but we have our own ideas of what is needed to be comfortable. Also better quality food comes at a higher price, clothes as well and so on... But just for a moment let's go back to love. "If you do something you love, you'll never work a day in your life." I went to school for Graphic Design, but my true love is writing. I also like to put songs together and write poetry. Graphic design was cool for me and fun but not 100% what I wanted to do. After graduating in December of 2003 from a college in Miami, I moved back to New York with a strong portfolio in print design, however the market was still suffering from 9/11 and people weren't hiring. I worked for myself for a while, but needed to pick up second jobs to support myself. Again Design is something I like but not 100% of what I love. But loving myself enough to know that I'm blessed gets me through every time. As long as I got food, clothes and shelter I'm good. But further down the line with a wife and children we find more responsibility. I love my wife, love my children hence I cherish my life, but loving them doesn't pay the bills or does it? One thing for sure is it gives me drive to make sure the bills are paid because now I must support more than myself. I think this is a common dilemma in society. I try to fix my mind on enjoying whatever job I'm doing to ensure my family is supported. That is where love plays the biggest part for me. "I do this for them." Many parents have said this to there children; "I do this for you." But back to living off of love. I write this for you because ultimately I love to write and share philosophical ideas. I do my best to help and learn along the way. So even if the job that pays isn't the one I love, I can still do what I love and contribute willingly, thus I'm still living with love and keeping it alive through my actions. Hope this has been helpful to anyone who is struggling with work and only looking for a release... Do something you love, it could become your job, and if it doesn't, still make time to do it for your enjoyment. If you feel that strongly about it, it's probably your purpose.
