I'm a full-time dad, a full-time artist, I work full-time and still find time to exercise. I'm basically full-time all the time. Not trying to pride myself on the fact that I juggle life because I know many people in this world share the same or similar circumstances. However, I'm writing this blog to highlight some important items from my own experience.
At times I've tried to push myself to write when I wasn't inspired and found I couldn't force it. It may have been good practice, but other times my writing would come out flawlessly just because I was inspired. Which brings me to my point about balance. I make plans all the time, I'm a planner, but I make my plans with possible change in mind. Life is too full of change not to be flexible. Unexpected moments create great fruition and memorable times. For instance, last night I planned on working on a specific song. However while working on it, my vibe completely changed and I ended up creating a brand new work. The new work is completely different and still being developed, but it's coming out great. If I only focused on what I planned to do I would have never created a new project, which I'm exited about. The bottom line is I have kids, love my kids, love my wife, love my family and must make time to spend with them too. Plus I love myself and need some me time too... So Balance is extremely necessary when it comes to how I spend my time. I may or may not become rich as an artist or a writer, but so what! I do what I want when I want and I love my life. I spend my time living in the moments. Not to say none of us should work hard to develop ambitions, but be careful what you sacrifice because the one thing you can never get back is time.
